Abstract
The article focuses on recent advancements in defense capabilities by the Australian and U.S. governments. The Albanese Government is investing $2.3 billion over a decade to enhance the Australian Army’s long-range strike capacity through the acquisition of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), including establishing a sovereign missile manufacturing industry. Additionally, $750 million is allocated to produce 268 new Bushmaster protected mobility vehicles in Bendigo, Victoria, supporting local jobs and export opportunities. Separately, the U.S. government awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to integrate the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) into the Aegis Combat System, enhancing the U.S. Navy’s integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) capabilities with a combat-proven missile system used by multiple allied nations.
