AT 73, LARRY CONNOR WILL TAKE A 35,000-FOOT LEAP FROM A HOT-AIR BALLOON TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FAMILIES OF FALLEN SOLDIERS High above California on one cloudless day in 2022, Larry Connor stepped out of an airplane into the -30° air with four former U.S. Air Force Pararescue jumpers. Breathing pure oxygen to flush nitrogen from their bodies, Connor and his mission mates - whom he met while training for the space voyage - will spend 50 minutes ascending to their jump spot in their 15-story-high balloon.
