Abstract
This article focuses on the strength and conditioning (S&C) practices, knowledge, and challenges among Brazilian taekwondo coaches. Based on an anonymous survey of 104 coaches, most held academic degrees but few had formal S&C certifications, yet nearly all valued S&C highly for performance enhancement. Coaches commonly prescribed exercises such as squats for strength, plyometrics for power, agility ladder drills, dynamic stretching, and kicking drills for sport-specific conditioning. Key challenges included low athlete motivation, especially among youth, fear of injury, limited resources, and a need for greater interdisciplinary support and integration of technology. The study highlights gaps in formal S&C education and suggests that tailored coach education and accessible technology could improve training effectiveness in Brazilian taekwondo.
