Abstract

This study focuses on comparing the training, anthropometric, and physical performance profiles of male volleyball players under 19 years old (U19) across different in-game roles. Analyzing 353 Brazilian U19 players, the research found that opposite hitters and middle blockers had less volleyball experience but exhibited significantly greater body mass, height, arm span, and jump reach (block and spike) compared to setters and liberos. No significant differences were observed in sprint speed or change of direction performance among the roles. These findings suggest that U19 male volleyball players already display role-specific physical and performance characteristics, which can inform coaches in player development and role assignment.
