Abstract

The NFL is currently investigating allegations against Javier Loya, a minority owner of the Houston Texans, regarding his behavior at poker parties he hosted in May 2022. Loya, who is also a prominent Houston oil broker, was charged with first-degree rape and sexual abuse but the charges were dismissed and he pled guilty to a misdemeanor count of physical harassment. The NFL's personal-conduct policy requires all individuals associated with the league to refrain from conduct detrimental to the integrity of the NFL, and ownership and management are held to a higher standard. The Houston Texans are cooperating with the investigation and Loya has recused himself from team and league activities until the matter is resolved. [Extracted from the article]
