Abstract
Jerry West, a Hall of Fame basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers, has passed away at the age of 86. West, known as "Mr. Clutch," played for the Lakers from 1960 to 1974 and was admired for his ability to make shots under pressure. Despite his talent, the Lakers only won one championship during West's time as a player. However, he later became the Lakers' General Manager and helped the team win three championships with players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson. West also played a significant role in signing Kobe Bryant in 1996. He is also recognized as the unofficial model for the NBA logo. [Extracted from the article]
