Abstract

This article provides an overview of the violence and resilience experienced by the Palestinian people. It showcases the destruction in Gaza City, including the devastation of agricultural land and uprooted olive trees, through satellite imagery. The article also explores the presence of ancient archaeological sites in the Gaza Strip, which are still being discovered and hold evidence of the region's history. It discusses the use of tunnels for movement and resistance, as well as the displacement of Palestinian artifacts and their different value to the Palestinian people and Western institutions. The article critically examines the impact of British archaeologists on Palestinian artifacts and land during the early 20th century, highlighting how the artifacts were separated from their context and listed in a way that severed their connection to Palestinian culture. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing the living heritage and local economy tied to these artifacts and critiques the colonial methods of extraction and classification that deny communities their historical claims to the land. The article concludes by emphasizing the endurance and resilience of the Palestinian people, as evidenced by the layers of soil and artifacts that bear witness to their vibrant culture.
