Abstract
This article focuses on the implementation and evaluation of a thin-film module within a nanotechnology learning-by-doing program designed for engineering students. The module integrates design, process, artefact fabrication, analysis, and assessment through hands-on laboratory activities using magnetron sputtering to deposit thin films such as zirconium nitride (ZrN). Survey and assessment results indicate that over 70% of students found the hands-on approach helpful in strengthening their skills, understanding nanotechnology concepts, and increasing motivation. The project-based learning framework facilitated interdisciplinary knowledge application and improved students' confidence and technical competence, with positive feedback from both students and experts supporting its effectiveness in nanotechnology education.
