Abstract

The article discusses the life, career, and artworks of American conceptual artist Barbara Kruger. Topics explored include her work as a graphic designer at a magazine publisher in the 1960s, her creation of text-on-image collages that address themes such as women's bodies and consumerism, and the way her artwork "Untitled (Your body is a battleground)" has been used as a placard for a 1989 women's rights protest activity.
