The Walking Studio: Workshop reflections as part of the 50th Anniversary Art Therapy Conference, 20 July 2024.

This article focuses on the reflections of two art therapists, Colleen Steiner Westling and Mirella Issaias, on their participation in "The Walking Studio" workshop facilitated by Pamela Whitaker at the University of Hertfordshire in July 2024. The workshop combined movement, sensory awareness, and visual art to foster self-discovery, challenge assumptions, and encourage personal transformation through navigating diverse indoor and outdoor environments. Participants engaged in creative exercises, sensory observation, and a culminating group performance, highlighting themes of vulnerability, trust, and the interplay between individual expression and social dynamics. The experience emphasized the integration of sensory and emotional dimensions as essential to understanding personal and cultural histories within therapeutic and societal contexts.
