Abstract

The article focuses on the discovery of a fragment of a Roman amphora unearthed in Spain, dated to the first four centuries CE, which bears scratched inscriptions identified as words from Vergil's *Georgics*. Unlike typical commercial markings on amphorae, these poetic lines suggest the possibility that youths, commonly employed in pottery workshops, may have inscribed verses as part of their learning, reflecting the use of *Georgics* in agricultural pedagogy in the region of Baetica. The find offers insight into the cultural and educational practices of the time, highlighting the intersection of daily labor and literary tradition in Roman society.
