Abstract

This article reviews "Silent Echoes of Becoming," an exhibition by Hong Kong-born artist Chris Huen Sin-Kan at Ota Fine Arts in Shanghai, focusing on his exploration of ordinary moments and the passage of time through layered, textured paintings. Huen’s work combines elements of drawing, Chinese ink painting, and oil, depicting overlapping domestic and natural scenes that evoke memory and sensory experience rather than linear narrative. His recent shift to saturated colors reflects his relocation to the UK, introducing new palettes inspired by unfamiliar landscapes. The paintings emphasize the emotional resonance of mundane, uneventful moments, presenting them with psychological intensity and lyrical subtlety. [Extracted from the article]
