Abstract

Monumental Labs, a startup founded in 2022, uses a robotic arm to create stone sculptures, aiming to make the process faster and cheaper than traditional hand-carving methods. Their first corporate customer was payment processing company Stripe Inc., who commissioned a six-foot marble statue for their annual conference. The sculpture took 10 days to mill with the robot and an additional two weeks of hand finishing. Monumental Labs has received significant interest and inquiries following the success of the Stripe statue. The company is working towards automating the process further and offers sculptures ranging from busts to life-sized figures, with prices starting at $6,000. [Extracted from the article]
