Abstract

The article focuses on the design and creation of a gallery space within a former bank office at Central House, completed in October 2012 by 26 postgraduate architecture students. The gallery’s color scheme was carefully chosen to reflect the space’s unique conditions, drawing inspiration from Barnett Newman’s 1955 painting *Uriel*, which influenced the pale aqua walls and burnt sienna floor. The project aimed to reconcile the practical needs of architecture with the artistic sensibilities of the existing art school occupants, addressing challenges such as lighting, ceiling structure, and color selection within the repurposed space.
