Abstract
This article discusses the use of traditional sewing techniques in modern clothing. It highlights brands such as By Walid, Mieko Mintz, and Aneeth Arora that incorporate vintage artisan skills and ethnic textiles into their designs. The article also provides instructions for two techniques of making "fractured jackets" using appliqué and reverse appliqué. These techniques are versatile and can be applied to garments, accessories, or soft furnishings, offering a creative way to repurpose fabric scraps.
