Abstract

The article examines the environmental, and economic implications of President Donald Trump's proclamation opening the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument to commercial fishing and considers conflicts over presidential authority under the Antiquities Act. It highlights the ecological significance of large marine reserves for migratory species such as tuna, billfishes, and sharks and examines the relationship between presidential authority and the conservation of marine biodiversity.
