Abstract
The article focuses on research conducted at the University of Warsaw regarding player-avatar interactions in gaming, specifically through the development and evaluation of the player-avatar interaction model (PAX) and the common player-avatar interaction scale (cPAX). The study involved a survey of 398 World of Warcraft players to assess the dimensionality and reliability of cPAX, revealing strong reliability in several subscales while highlighting a positive correlation between the critical concern dimension and players' sense of presence. The findings suggest that critical concern relates to players' desire for coherence in avatars' narratives rather than their realism, indicating a need for further investigation into the reliability of sense of control measures in gaming contexts.
