Abstract
The article discusses ongoing efforts to secure a permanent exhibition space for Alphonse Mucha's "Slav Epic," a series of 20 monumental paintings depicting Slavic history. Currently, the paintings are on loan to a castle in Moravský Krumlov, with the loan extended until 2031, while plans to relocate them to a new space designed by Thomas Heatherwick in Prague's Savarin development are under consideration. However, legal disputes involving Mucha's family, particularly a lawsuit from his granddaughter Jarmila Mucha Plocková, complicate the situation, as she opposes the proposed underground location. The city of Prague is exploring various options for a long-term home for the Epic, emphasizing the need for a solution that honors Mucha's original vision for the artwork's display.
