Abstract

This section presents an interview with American artist Alex Katz. Topics discussed include his collaboration with poets since the 1960s, the way he views poetry as more stimulating compared to painting, the poets featured in his 1978 painting series "Face of the Poet" such as Ted Berrigan, Rene Ricard, and Alice Notley, and his initial meeting with poet Frank O'Hara at the opening of his 1954 art exhibition at Roko Gallery in New York.
