Abstract

This article reviews ¡Ay Tú! Critical Essays on the Life and Work of Sandra Cisneros, the first book-length interdisciplinary collection of scholarly essays on the Chicana writer Sandra Cisneros. The volume explores Cisneros's reclamation and reimagining of Latinidad and femininity, focusing on her literary and artistic work that addresses border transgressions related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and nationality. Divided into three parts, the essays analyze Cisneros's major texts, her connections with other writers and communities, and her visual artistry, highlighting how her work gives voice to marginalized and silenced groups. The collection situates Cisneros within Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x discourse and offers new perspectives on her contributions to American southwestern cultural and border studies.
