Abstract
This article focuses on the experiences of National Health Service (NHS) Clinical Psychologists (CPs) during the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically regarding moral injury and compassion-fatigue. Through qualitative interviews with twelve NHS-CPs, five main themes emerged, including challenges with remote therapy, inter-professional divides, pressures to continue working despite personal strain, concerns about service user care, and reflections on post-pandemic changes. The study highlights the psychological distress caused by conflicting values, increased workload, and organizational decision-making, emphasizing the need for multi-level support interventions within NHS institutions and professional bodies. Recommendations include fostering open discussions about mental health among Clinical Psychologists, improving team connections, and policy-level changes to better address workforce wellbeing.
