Abstract
The article focuses on the challenges of access to justice for survivors of sexual violence in Vietnam. Despite Vietnam’s ratification of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and various legislative efforts, significant legal gaps, cultural norms, and systemic barriers hinder effective legal protection and support for victims. Key issues include narrow legal definitions of sexual violence, difficulties in evidence collection, victim-blaming attitudes within the justice system, limited eligibility for free legal aid, and insufficient support services such as one-stop centers. The article recommends comprehensive legal reforms, gender-sensitive training for justice officials, expanded support services, and stronger protection of victims’ privacy to improve survivors’ access to justice and uphold their rights.
