Abstract
This article examines Tricia Hersey's work with The Nap Ministry, which uses rest as a form of healing and political resistance rooted in Black feminist, Womanist, and Black cyberfeminist traditions. Hersey frames rest as a radical practice opposing the exploitation of Black labor under capitalism, emphasizing communal healing, Black spirituality, and ancestral legacy through digital activism and public events. The Nap Ministry's approach centers the body as a site of liberation and promotes "soul care" distinct from commodified self-care, reclaiming rest as a collective right and tool for Black liberation. By situating Hersey's work within a lineage of Black women's activism, the article highlights how digital spaces serve as vital sites for Black women's resistance, joy, and community healing.
