Abstract
The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) has allocated $125 million for five large-scale water recycling projects in California and Utah to enhance water sources and bolster drought resilience. The Large-Scale Water Recycling Program, initiated in 2023 with funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, supports conservation efforts on a significant scale without project size limitations. These initiatives aim to transform unusable water sources into clean, dependable supplies, aiding communities in developing drought-resistant water resources for future generations. DOI Secretary Deb Haaland emphasized the importance of these investments in climate resilience and water security, highlighting the program's role in safeguarding water supplies in Western communities.
