Abstract

"From the Steel City to the White City" by Zachary L. Brodt explores Pittsburgh's influence on the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The book highlights Pittsburgh's role in shaping the fair and how the fair, in turn, impacted the city. Brodt discusses the contributions of Pittsburgh inventors, the City Beautiful Movement, and the themes of women's contributions and leisure time. However, the book is critiqued for not delving deeper into the experiences of the working class and African Americans during the fair. [Extracted from the article]
