Abstract

This article focuses on Educate Girls, a Mumbai-based nonprofit founded by Safeena Husain, which aims to educate out-of-school girls in India. After being selected by the Audacious Project in 2019 with a goal to educate 1.5 million girls, the organization surpassed this target by 2025 and has since helped over 2 million girls in remote villages. Husain, motivated by her own interrupted education due to poverty and violence, authored a book titled *Every Last Girl: A Journey to Educate India's Forgotten Daughters* to highlight the challenges faced by girls like Antimbala, whose story reflects gender biases in education. Educate Girls plans to expand its reach to 10 million students by 2035, addressing the broader issue of 133 million girls worldwide who remain out of school. The nonprofit is also noted as the first Indian nonprofit to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
