Abstract
Whoopi Goldberg's new memoir, "Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother and Me," explores her childhood and the impact of her mother's mental illness. Despite the challenges of growing up in New York City as a single mother, Goldberg's mother went to great lengths to provide for her children. Goldberg recounts her mother's hospitalization and the subsequent loss of memory due to electroshock therapy. The memoir also highlights Goldberg's journey to becoming a successful actress and the support she received from her mother and brother. Goldberg reflects on her career and expresses gratitude for her accomplishments. [Extracted from the article]
