Abstract

The article focuses on Cannupa Hanska Luger's upcoming exhibition, "Dripping Earth," at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska, which opens on November 15. This expansive project utilizes various mediums to explore themes of Native American history and the impact of colonialism, particularly through the lens of the Missouri River and the work of artist Karl Bodmer. Luger, who is of Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, and Lakota descent, incorporates traditional clay practices and contemporary materials to create pieces that reflect his ancestral connections and the concept of change. The exhibition aims to encourage visitors to rethink their understanding of Indigenous knowledge and the ongoing effects of historical interventions on the land and its people.
