Abstract
This article focuses on gender-related differences in perceived opportunities for mentorship, promotion, and transfer within a large urban police department. Based on survey data from nearly 500 officers, the study found no gender disparities in opportunities for promotion or transfer to specialized units, but women reported concerns about the availability of mentorship. The findings highlight the importance of mentorship in supporting the advancement and representation of women in policing.
