Abstract
The article examines the conception, scope and execution of the Women's National War Memorial for the First World War in York, England as an enterprise funded and managed by women. Information is provided about the proposal of Helen Little to repurpose the Five Sisters window as a memorial for women, fundraising campaign for the memorial, panels listing women's names grouped by affiliation, and responsibility of York Minster for organising the ceremonial aspects of the memorial's inauguration.
