B THOSE WHO STUDY b hymenopterans and sundry odd desert arthropods lost a good friend, colleague, and mentor with the death of Justin Orvel Schmidt, Ph.D. on 18 February 2023. Recently, Justin and Li Schmidt endowed an annual zoology symposium at UBC that honors Justin's first wife, Debbie Wragg-Schmidt, whom he met there. Among his ARS research studies, Justin examined Africanized honey bee defenses and honey bee pollen feeding and digestion. [Extracted from the article]
