Abstract

The article focuses on the description of a new species of yeti crab, *Kiwa gemma* n. sp., discovered at a hydrothermal vent field named Precious Stone Mountain near the equatorial Eastern Pacific Rise-Galapagos Microplate at a depth of 1,628 meters. This species is the fifth described member of the family Kiwaidae and is distinguished from its congeners by unique morphological features such as the absence of spines on the lateral margins of the chelipeds, slender chelar fingers, and a spinose mesial margin on the uropodal endopod, as well as distinctive short, stiff, scaly-tipped setae on the antennal peduncles and chelipeds. Molecular phylogenetic analyses support its status as a distinct species closely related to *Kiwa araonae*. The article also provides a taxonomic key for identifying species within the genus *Kiwa*.
