Abstract
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan mentioned during a ceremony for the reconstruction of the Shirvan irrigation canal that work is currently being done on a Caspian Sea water desalination project. Once completed, this project will allow Azerbaijan to use the water from the Caspian Sea for both irrigation and drinking purposes. President Aliyev highlighted that many countries have experience in desalination and Azerbaijan, with its large water basin like the Caspian Sea, will take advantage of this opportunity.
