Abstract

Four baby tuatara have been found alive and well at the demolition site of Invercargill's former museum. The tuatara were originally moved from their museum home last year during the museum's reconstruction. The discovery of the baby tuatara was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. The babies were found in the area where the Brothers Island tuatara were housed, and these tuatara were not previously thought to be capable of breeding. The new tuatara enclosure in Queens Park opened to the public last month with 17 resident tuatara. [Extracted from the article]
