Abstract

The article discusses a rewilding project aiming to release Tasmanian devils on mainland Australia to control non-native feral cats and foxes. Tasmanian devils, once present on the Australian mainland, disappeared around 3000 years ago due to the arrival of dingoes, human pressure, and climate change. The devils are being reintroduced to restore balance to the ecosystem and prevent biodiversity loss caused by invasive predators. The project has garnered support from conservationists, but the impact on other predators like feral cats and foxes remains to be seen. [Extracted from the article]
