Abstract

The article discusses the impact of discovering the beaver's attraction to castorum on hunting practices and the beaver population. The hunters, initially pleased with the ease of capturing beavers using this substance, soon realized that their methods could lead to the extinction of the beaver species, which was crucial for their livelihood. Despite the initial success in hunting, with catches increasing dramatically, there was a growing awareness of the unsustainable nature of their actions. The narrative also describes a journey through the region, highlighting the landscape and the beaver dams encountered along the way. [Extracted from the article]
