Abstract
The article recounts the discovery of a frozen carcass of a large animal, likely an ancient species of elephant, by a Tangusan fisherman in Siberia in 1799. Over the years, as the ice melted, the carcass became more visible, and by 1803, it had completely detached from the ice, allowing the fisherman to collect its tusks. Subsequent examinations revealed that while the body had been partially consumed by local wildlife and people, the skeleton remained largely intact, providing evidence of the animal's adaptation to cold climates. The findings suggest that this species was not suited for warmer environments and had been preserved in ice at the time of its death. [Extracted from the article]
