Abstract
This article from TIME Magazine discusses the controversial practice of using helicopters to round up wild horses and burros in the United States. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) funds these roundups in order to remove the animals from public lands that some believe cannot support their population. However, critics argue that the practice is inhumane and can result in injuries and deaths for the animals. Additionally, there are concerns about potential conflicts of interest, as some contractors involved in the roundups also have grazing leases for cattle and sheep in the same areas. Lawmakers, including Representative Dina Titus, have attempted to ban this practice in the past, but have had limited success. This year, they have gained an unexpected ally in actress Diane Lane, who is advocating for the protection of the horses. [Extracted from the article]
