Abstract
REGULARSIf you take a closer look at the legs of a mosquito, you'll see lots of tiny scales, as each leg is made up of microscales. Along with offering some physical protection, the scales also provide something called 'water-supporting force'. When you see an insect like a mosquito or a water strider standing on the surface of a pond, water-supporting force is what's keeping them topside. [Extracted from the article]
