Abstract

This article discusses the recent increase in bedbug cases in France, particularly in Paris. The media and social media have been reporting on this issue, causing fear and concern among the public. However, the article questions whether the bedbug epidemic has been exaggerated by the media and social media accounts. Limited data suggests that many reported sightings of bedbugs on public transport in Paris have been investigated and found to be false. The article suggests that the global resurgence of bedbugs, combined with media attention on Paris, has created a cycle of heightened awareness and public concern. It emphasizes the need to consider the role of media reporting and social media in shaping public perceptions of such issues. [Extracted from the article]
