Abstract

A report published by the United Nations Environment Programme highlights the drastic decline of migratory fish species. The report reveals that 97% of CMS-protected fish species, approximately 56 species, are facing extinction. The main factors contributing to fish declines include bycatch, overfishing, and pollution. The report also emphasizes the need to protect migratory species on land and in water, and suggests strategies such as attaching LED lights to nets to deter certain fish. The goal of the report is to guide conservation efforts and raise awareness about the declining populations of migratory species. [Extracted from the article]
