Abstract
Parrots, such as the kea and African gray parrot, have recently been recognized for their remarkable cognitive abilities. They can mimic human speech and even communicate with people. Parrots also demonstrate tool use and have large brains relative to their body size. Researchers have found genetic similarities between parrots and humans in brain development and speech. The origins of parrot intelligence can be traced back to the mass extinction that ended the Age of Dinosaurs. However, studying parrot intelligence in the wild is challenging, and more research is needed. Understanding parrot intelligence could also help with conservation efforts for endangered parrot species. [Extracted from the article]
