Abstract

This article focuses on an interdisciplinary educational project involving three undergraduate elementary education students and two educators—one in art education and one in science education—who collaboratively used a situated art intervention combined with sensory land walking methodologies to raise awareness about biodiversity loss in the Canary Islands. The project integrated art and science through experiential, sensory engagement with the natural environment at Cruz del Carmen in Tenerife, culminating in an eco-art installation titled "Leave No Trace." This approach aimed to foster a holistic, sustainable education that connects lived experiences, promotes civic commitment, and aligns with Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action, life on land, and quality education. The educators emphasize the value of interdisciplinary, arts-based learning in supporting a post-humanistic vision of science and enhancing empathy toward biodiversity.
