Biography

Allen Powell is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of EBSCO, bringing over three decades of leadership experience to this role. Previously, Allen served as Chief Financial Officer of EBSCO and Executive Vice President of Serials, GOBI, & Operations, where he oversaw the operational and financial functions for EBSCO’s global office network and led both the Serials and GOBI Library Services areas of the business. Over the years Allen has held a range of key roles, including CFO and President of Subscription Services (prior to EBSCO’s merger of the database and subscriptions divisions in 2013) and various senior executive roles where he drove operational excellence across multiple business lines. His extensive career began as a CPA at Ernst & Young.

Known for his expertise in financial leadership, Allen has contributed valuable insights on serials pricing and budgeting at major conferences and in published articles. As Interim CEO, he continues to champion integrity, data-driven decision making, and the empowerment of teams to deliver customer-focused solutions across EBSCO.

Allen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration-Accounting from Samford University, where he was a collegiate baseball player. He supports his community as a board member for youth organizations and values balancing professional achievement with family life.
