EBSCO Information Services Announces New Integration with Google for Education

~ Partnership Enables Librarians to Leverage Resources from Both Companies to Serve Their Users ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — January 16, 2020 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) announced a new integration with Google for Education. As a Google for Education Partner, EBSCO will be able to provide universities, schools and public libraries using G Suite for Education with innovative resources to engage students in learning, both inside and outside the classroom.

More than 90 million students and teachers around the world use G Suite for Education, and more than 30 million students conduct research on Chromebooks. As a Google Cloud partner, EBSCO combines the breadth and depth of its educational content with the trusted technology of Google for Education. EBSCO Information Services Vice President of Product Management Sara Earley says this commitment helps users of both Google for Education and EBSCO. “This partnership reinforces Google for Education’s mission to help teachers and students while allowing G Suite for Education users to easily leverage their EBSCO resources which are used by researchers around the world.”

EBSCO’s Google for Education integrations deliver benefits related to access and security, collaboration and sharing between students and their instructors, as well as a better Chromebook experience:

  • Seamless Access and Increased Security: With Google Sign In, users don’t need to enter additional login credentials to access their My EBSCOhost® accounts. EBSCO does not store Google usernames and passwords.
  • Easier Collaboration: Once authenticated, users can quickly download and share EBSCO content to Google Drive.
  • Paperless Instruction: Google Classroom makes it easier than ever for educators to share authoritative articles and multimedia content with their students.
  • Optimized Experience for Chromebook Users: EBSCOhost, EBSCO Discovery Service™ and Explora™ apps are available for free download through the Chrome Web Store. These apps give students and patrons an alternative way to access library resources from their phones, tablets and mobile devices.
