IPSWICH, Mass. — January 7, 2020 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and PTFS Europe have partnered to support libraries adopting the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP). The EBSCO and PTFS Europe partnership will provide hosting and local support services for FOLIO libraries in the United Kingdom.
PTFS Europe supports libraries using Koha and other open source resources. By supporting FOLIO libraries, PTFS Europe will help increase the adoption of FOLIO and provide additional services to their current customers.
PTFS Europe has a long-established track record of implementing, hosting and supporting open source library management solutions in the UK and Europe. PTFS Europe’s Head of Marketing and Business Administration, Andrew Auld, says the partnership with EBSCO allows a global solution to include local support for customers across library sectors including Further Education and Higher Education. “Working with EBSCO to implement FOLIO adds a new open source solution to the list of products we can support for our customers and shows our commitment to both open source and to the needs of all library sectors.”
EBSCO supports FOLIO with funding, developers and project management. EBSCO is also offering hosting services and advanced software support, as well as a variety of data integration services for libraries adopting the FOLIO LSP, and the company is partnering with services providers around the world.
EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Partnerships, Mark Allcock, says by partnering with the services providers that libraries know and trust, EBSCO can ensure that those libraries can be confident that their needs are being met when moving to FOLIO. “Customer service and high-quality support are paramount when we look to partner with service providers. We chose PTFS Europe because of the value they place on these attributes, and we know this partnership will strengthen the way we support libraries.”
FOLIO is an open source platform created by a community of librarians, developers and vendors to support traditional ILS functionality with the ability to add additional value and services. The applications are modular and allow multiple vendors or libraries to contribute applications. More information is available at www.folio.org.
