GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO Now Available Through Talis Aspire

~ Integration to Increase Visibility into E-book Offerings for Libraries Using Talis Aspire ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — July 27, 2022 — E-book offerings available in GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO (GOBI Library Solutions) are now visible in Talis Aspire for all e-suppliers with whom the customer has an active relationship via GOBI. The offerings displayed in Talis from GOBI will include the access model, whether the model is DRM-free, the customer-specific estimated net price and offerings previously purchased through GOBI.

This integration provides librarians with visibility into GOBI e-book offerings across multiple platforms in their Talis Aspire workflow, enabling them to easily and efficiently make purchasing decisions based on access model and price.

Talis Aspire users who use GOBI to acquire e-books will automatically be opted in. When titles are selected in Talis, librarians will be brought to a GOBI search result containing the e-book offering. Librarians can also see if a print book is linked to the e-ISBN through a message displayed with alternate formats also available in GOBI.

EBSCO Information Services Director of Product Management for Books Caroline Zappasodi explains the importance of global partnerships to GOBI users. “Improving librarian workflows and supporting choice of content and e-book suppliers is at the heart of GOBI’s mission. Our partnership with Talis provides libraries worldwide the information they need, where they need it, to facilitate selection decisions.”

Daniel Horvath, Product Director for Technology from SAGE (Talis & Lean Library), says, “Talis’ partnership with GOBI will provide libraries with even more openness, choice, and interoperability. Our goal with this addition to Talis Aspire is to enable our library acquisitions practitioners to make acquisitions decisions quickly, accurately, and efficiently by providing as much of the information necessary to make their acquisitions decisions from within Talis Aspire. Bringing GOBI into this offering means that users do not have to context switch when seeking information required to make an acquisition decision.”
