SirsiDynix Furthers Work with EBSCO on BLUEcloud Integrations

~ SirsiDynix continues to work with EBSCO to streamline library workflows ~

LEHI, UTApril 20, 2015 — SirsiDynix is furthering its work with EBSCO Information Services, a leader in library workflows, in integrating EBSCO tools and services with BLUEcloud products.

This partnership between industry leaders has already resulted in a tight integration with SirsiDynix’s Enterprise discovery tool and EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS) search results.

“This integration is both powerful and elegant,” said Bill Davison, CEO of SirsiDynix. “Students and researchers can see EDS results interfiled with other Enterprise results. When they’re signed in to Enterprise, users can access full-text EDS materials with just one click. That functionality is significant.”

SirsiDynix and EBSCO plan to work together on more than just discovery tools. The vendors are preparing to integrate their procurement solutions to make the acquisitions process smoother and more efficient for libraries. For instance, YBP Library Service’s GOBI product will automatically push order information to BLUEcloud Acquisitions. After creating an order in GOBI, library staff can see the resulting data in their LSP. Likewise, an order entered via EBSCO ECM for e-books, or on EBSCONET for journal subscriptions, will be readily available within BLUEcloud Acquisitions as well.

Sheridan Richey, SirsiDynix’s Vice President of Software Development, said, “This YBP integration with BLUEcloud Acquisitions will help library staff purchase materials quickly and give them a much more fluid acquisitions process.”

“Our vision for BLUEcloud is to streamline as many library functions as possible,” Bill Davison said. “Because of our relationship with EBSCO, we’re in the perfect position to make that happen.”

EBSCO’s Senior Director, Product Management, SaaS, Harry Kaplanian, says that simplifying workflows is a primary goal: “The Order API will make the ordering process more efficient. This work is a prime example of how partnerships and interoperability between applications benefit our mutual customers.”
