An Extensive and Thorough Collection of Works
RISM - Series A/II: Music Manuscripts after 1600 contains an extensive collection of indexing, providing thorough information on music manuscripts written after 1600 and up to 1800, as well as their current locations. The records include information in standard bibliographic categories as well as graphical images of over 780,000 music incipits, which can be viewed as musical scores. The goal of the database is to document the world's musical sources of manuscripts or printed music, works on music theory, and libretti.
Superior Browsing Capabilities
The index can be browsed by a number of categories, including: composer, document type (such as autograph, manuscript copy, partial autograph, or possible autograph), document date, key, language (for works with text), library information (the institution holding the manuscript), literature sigla (a standardized abbreviated code representing secondary sources cited), names (composer variant names, author, provenance, arranger, etc.), role and title.
