The EBSCO Collection Development team takes content curation very seriously. The team is responsible for updating and creating a variety of eBook collections across hundreds of topics. Each month dozens of collections are examined and updated to ensure they offer the best and most relevant titles for libraries and their patrons.

To help libraries stay updated and learn more about new and updated eBook collections, we are pleased to introduce a new on-demand video series called EBSCO eBooks Collection Quick Bites.

Each session will be served to viewers in 5 minutes or less and will feature an EBSCO collection development team member talking about EBSCO eBook collections pertaining to timely and relevant topics. EBSCO offers collections for all types of libraries, including academic, public, school, medical, and corporate libraries, so there is something for every kind of library.

In our first session, meet collection development specialist Jeanette Pomeroy. She has been in the library industry for more than 20 years. In her first role at NetLibrary, she was responsible for cataloging, MARC record delivery and eBook production. At this time, eBooks were created by chopping the spine off a book and feeding the pages through a highspeed scanner. From there, she worked at Tinker Airforce Library in circulation and assisted with interlibrary loans and the children’s summer reading program. She came to EBSCO in 2010 and manages the medical and Spanish language collections and advises on MARC record issues.

The demand for foreign language materials is high, and Spanish and Portuguese eBooks are among our most requested non-English content from libraries. In this short session, Jeanette describes all the different types of Spanish and Portuguese collections available through EBSCO eBooks and outlines the topics that will be coming soon. She also provides viewers with popular Spanish and Portuguese publishers featured in the collections, as well as top-selling titles. View the video below and click on this link to see a handy roundup of all the collections discussed during the session.
